Welcome to the Cincinnati Off Road Alliance Mountain Bike Race Series FAQ sheet.
Here on referred to as the CORA Series.

The CORA Series objectives are;

1) Promote Cincinnati area mountain bike racing participation,
2) Promote Camaraderie within the local Mountain bike community,
3) Promote trail advocacy awareness,
4) And most importantly, promote fun and health.

The CORA Series is composed of existing races already established in and around the Cincinnati area. All races are individually promoted and governed. All questions regarding individual races should be forwarded to the director of the race in question. There is no need to declare your intention to race in the series. All registered racers for each race will automatically be included in the CORA series. If we list your name on the CORA series point totals and for some reason you do not wish to participate (have your name on the list), you may contact the series director, Chad Irey, at coraseries@gmail.com and he will be happy to remove your name from the register

• You will be scored in the class for which you register. If a particular race within the series offers a class that you wish to race and the CORA series does not track points for the specific class, do not be discouraged. As long as the class you wish to race completes the same amount of laps as the class you are competing in the CORA series, We will score you as if you were racing in the class. Example, the Caesar Creek race may offer a Clydesdale class. The CORA series does not offer a Clydesdale Class. If you wish to compete in the Clydesdale class for this race, we will score you with the class that completes the same amount of laps. Usually Clydesdales complete the same amount of laps as the sport class, so we will keep your score in the sport class. We will take your finish time, compare it to the finish times of the sport class and insert your name after the name of the next fastest racer in the sport class. Should the Clydesdale race a lap less or more than the CORA series class you are participating in, then you will need to race in a class that is completing the same amount of laps.
Beginner Class: enter this class if you are new to the sport or this is your first Mountain Bike race. This is an introductory class used to “get your feet wet.” Beginner races are approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Sport Class: is the middle class. You will find more advanced riders than the beginner class and the pace will be faster. Sport races are approximately 1.5 hours. The sport class should be used to hone in your skills and work on your race strategy. We highly encourage racers to use the sport class as a intermediate stop on their way to the highest class.

Pro/Expert Class: The highest class. You will find the best regional talent in this class. The pace will be even faster than the sport class and race duration is approximately 1:45:00 to 2:15:00.

Participation rules:
• You must race in Four out of the Six races to be eligible for a Series Title.
• The Harbin Park Time Trials have two categories, a one lap category and a two lap category. Beginners will need to race in the one lap category, Sport and Expert will need to race in the two lap category. Points will be awarded in order of the fastest overall lap times. (combined laps per night)
• Initial class placement will be based on your registration for your first race. If you plan to change your class prior to a race you must notify the series coordinator and register for the race in your new class. If you fail to race in your new class all points will be forfeited for that race.
• None of the CORA rules or points will disqualify or count for the series the race is actually run under. So, for example, if you have decided to move to expert in the CORA points series and at the last minute decide to race sport and you win the OMBC race in sport, your standing with OMBC will not be affected, only the CORA points will be lost.
• Prizes are plaques for winners of individual classes

See you at the races,
