BioWheels-Deltec’s Chris Emory Podiums again at Ring of Fire #2
May 26, 2008 on 6:44 pm | In Road Racing, BW/Deltec Road Squad |5/21/08
Last Wednesday night was the second race of the Ring of Fire series. The night consisted of 3 races: a “C” race for Cat. 5, a “B” race for Cat. 4, and an “A” race for Pro/1/2/3. Chris Emory and I raced the “A” race.
The race is 60 Laps around the Amboy Speedway. Every 5th lap there are points available for places 1-5. On the final lap the points are doubled. Also if you can lap the field you earn 20 points.
For Wednesday’s race it looked like some local heat was in the field. The Industry Nine-BioWheels Elite Team had a full squad including: Adam Ray, Chris Earnst, Chris Larsen, Jason Sprouse, Andrew Erskine, and Jacob Mcgahey. Current and ex-pros were also racing including: Joey Coddington and Hugh Moran. So Chris had his hands full. However, around lap 10 a decisive move was made and 3 riders were able to lap the field including Chris. During the time he was off the front of the field I was able to do what very little I could to help. I rode false tempo and was able to chase back 2 weak attempts to bridge. Once back in the group Chris wasted no time in getting back on the front to lock up more points and secure 3rd.
Chris now leads the series. Next up… Tomato Head Omnium!
