Chris Emory wins his 4th race of the year, Andy Pooser takes 4th!

5/24/08

Saturday the Cat. 3 BioWheels-Deltec road team laid down the pain in Knoxville.  The Tomato Head road course had several areas where a move timed right would cause a very hard chase.  There was also a hill section on the back stretch that put you on the redline all the way up.  We did 3 laps for about 60 miles total.  On lap 2 as Chris found his legs and started to hurt the field.  Also alternating attacks was Mike Jackson.  Mike is putting the finnishing touches on his form for the Roan Groan coming up in 2 weeks.  Between the two of them, they were hurting everyone including myself.  Coming into the hills on lap 2 I found myself in difficulty and in bad position.  I would soon be in a chase group of 5 and out of contention.  But the move that poped me got Chris and another guy off the front and formed the winning break.  Now Mike and Andy were thinking about the field sprint.  About 1 mile out Mike lead Andy to the front and tried to take control, but it was a bit early.  However, Andy used his instincts to find wheels and fight for second in the field sprint.  He missed the podium by inches!

This race was a big win for our team.  Chris and Andy now both have enough points to upgrade.  They will soon be joining BioWeels-Deltec’s Cat. 2 team and racing with Chad Shoenhauer, and Jason Smith.  Good job guys!
